Assistant, Nutrition

About the role

The Nutrition Assistant will support the implementation of community‑based management of acute malnutrition (CMAM) and Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) programmes across field sites. Working closely with health facilities, community health volunteers and the WASH and nutrition treatment teams, the role ensures that nutrition services are delivered according to established standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with CMAM and IYCF activities at health facilities and in the community, providing supportive supervision to staff and volunteers.
• Collect, compile and submit weekly and monthly nutrition reports.
• Ensure health facilities and mobile teams have adequate supplies for SAM and MAM treatment.
• Identify training gaps for CMAM and IYCF, recommend and help organise trainings.
• Train community health workers on MUAC screening, nutrition and hygiene reporting.
• Integrate nutrition messages into health and outreach activities in collaboration with WASH and treatment teams.
• Establish feedback mechanisms with communities and relay issues to programme staff.
• Coordinate with M&E to collect data, file documentation and produce activity reports.

Required profile

• Diploma in Nutrition, Nursing or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years experience in CMAM and IYCF programmes.
• At least 2 years of relevant administrative experience.
• Previous experience with an international NGO.
• Strong organizational and communication abilities.
• Willingness to travel to project sites.
• Fluent in English and Arabic (written and spoken); ability to write reports in English.
