Assistant Finance Officer

About the role

The Assistant Finance Officer will support the Finance Officer in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing budgets, and ensuring compliance with tax and audit requirements. This entry‑level position offers exposure to the financial operations of a company operating in the agriculture, fishing and forestry sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Financial Record‑Keeping: Assist with accurate recording of procurement, supply‑chain and vendor payment transactions.
• Budgeting & Cost Control: Help prepare budgets, track expenses and suggest cost‑saving measures.
• Financial Reporting: Support the Finance Officer in producing periodic financial statements, cash‑flow reports and profitability analyses.
• Accounts Payable & Receivable: Monitor supplier invoices, process payments and ensure timely collection of receivables.
• Payroll & Tax Compliance: Aid in processing staff salaries, deductions and statutory remittances such as PAYE tax and pension contributions.
• Audit & Compliance: Assist in ensuring financial records meet regulatory standards and support internal and external audits.
• Ad‑hoc Tasks: Perform any other duties assigned by the Finance Officer.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (BSc) in Finance, Accounting or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar finance or accounting role.
