Analytics Engineer

About the role

Flutterwave is seeking an Analytics Engineer to own the transformation layer that converts raw, streaming, and batch data into clean, tested, and well‑documented datasets. You will build ingestion pipelines, model data with dbt, and write performant SQL and Python on Amazon Redshift to enable fast, self‑serve analytics.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain modular, tested, and documented dbt models from staging to marts.
• Develop and monitor real‑time and batch ingestion pipelines using Estuary, handling CDC, schema evolution, and backfills.
• Write optimized SQL queries, design dimensional models, and tune Redshift performance (distribution/sort keys, WLM, cost).
• Automate data transformations, orchestration hooks, and custom dbt macros with Python.
• Establish data quality tests, freshness checks, monitoring, and CI/CD pipelines via Git.
• Maintain comprehensive model and metric documentation and a consistent semantic layer.
• Collaborate with analysts, data scientists, and business teams to translate requirements into trustworthy datasets.
• Apply data governance, access controls, and privacy practices (GDPR, SOC 2).

Required profile

• Minimum 3 + years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, or a similar role.
• Strong production‑level SQL skills (CTEs, window functions, performance tuning).
• Hands‑on experience with dbt in a production environment.
• Proficiency in Python for data workflows and automation.
• Experience with Amazon Redshift, including distribution/sort keys and WLM tuning.
• Experience with ELT/CDC tools such as Estuary, Fivetran, Airbyte, Debezium, or Kafka.
• Solid understanding of Kimball dimensional modeling and star schemas.
• Comfortable with Git‑based version control and CI/CD processes.
• Authorization to work in Nigeria without sponsorship.
