Accountant

About the role

We are looking for a skilled Accountant to oversee all financial activities related to our real‑estate projects in Lagos. The role involves maintaining accurate records, managing payments, and delivering timely financial reports to support business decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain up‑to‑date accounting records, including income, expenses, payments, receipts and journals.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely reconciliation.
• Track client property payments, outstanding balances, deposits and instalments.
• Maintain financial records for individual real‑estate projects and monitor construction expenses against approved budgets.
• Prepare monthly management accounts, cash‑flow reports, expense reports and other financial statements.
• Perform regular bank and account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and monitoring project profitability.
• Review payment requests and supporting documents for proper approvals.
• Support payroll processing, staff expenses and reimbursements.
• Ensure compliance with Nigerian tax and statutory requirements and assist with internal and external audits.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or HND in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• 3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in real‑estate, construction or project‑based environments.
• ICAN/ACCA qualification or progress toward it is an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and Nigerian tax regulations.
• Experience with project accounting, client payment tracking and financial reporting.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Odoo or Zoho Books.
