Accountant – Finance Operations

About the role

We are seeking a detail‑oriented and experienced Accountant to support the financial operations of a fast‑growing transportation company. The role will manage accounts payable and receivable, ensure accurate financial reporting, and assist the Head of Finance with day‑to‑day activities.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements, reports, and general ledger records.
• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax laws, and regulatory requirements, including filing VAT, PAYE, WHT, and corporate tax returns.
• Monitor cash flow, reconcile bank statements, and manage accounts payable and receivable.
• Develop budgets, forecasts, and financial performance reports.
• Support external auditors during statutory audits and resolve audit queries.
• Strengthen internal controls and accounting procedures.
• Analyze financial data and provide actionable insights for business decisions.
• Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff where applicable.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or HND in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience in a corporate environment.
• Professional certification such as ACA, ACCA or ICAN is an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards, taxation and accounting principles.
• High level of integrity, accuracy and attention to detail.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and organizational skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
