Accountant – Construction Finance

About the role

The Olufunke Giwa Company is seeking a diligent Accountant to manage financial operations for its construction projects in Lagos. The role involves preparing reports, handling budgets, and ensuring compliance with Nigerian tax regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports and maintain the general ledger.
• Develop and monitor project budgets, track material, labour and subcontractor costs, and analyse variances.
• Manage accounts payable, verify invoices against LPOs and contracts, and reconcile supplier accounts.
• Handle accounts receivable, issue client invoices based on milestones, and follow up overdue payments.
• Monitor cash flow, prepare forecasts, manage petty cash and reimbursements.
• Coordinate payroll processing, allowances, deductions and expense claims.
• Ensure statutory compliance, tax and VAT reporting, and support internal or external audits.
• Maintain accurate records in the company’s accounting software and suggest process improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or HND in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• 2–3 years of relevant accounting or finance experience, preferably in construction or project‑based environments.
• Professional qualification or progress towards ICAN, ACCA, ANAN or equivalent is an advantage.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage or Tally.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, bank reconciliations and financial controls.
• Familiarity with Nigerian tax, VAT and statutory requirements.
• Ability to manage budgeting, cash‑flow forecasting and payroll administration.
