Team Lead, Card Settlement

About the role

The Team Lead, Card Settlement will supervise and authorize settlement activities while supporting the Unit Head in delivering high‑quality service to partners. This role ensures accurate, timely processing of card transactions across multiple card schemes and maintains strict compliance with internal controls and regulatory policies.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee settlement of Visa, Verve, Afrigo, Amex and Mastercard transactions and ensure timely processing.
• Balance incoming and outgoing transaction reports against settlement values received from switches.
• Post merchant transactions to the appropriate general ledger accounts and clear suspense accounts daily.
• Prepare and submit all regulatory reports by their due dates.
• Process charge‑backs, credit‑card settlement files and daily repayment files promptly.
• Conduct daily DTS and credit‑card reconciliations.
• Champion automation of settlement processes and analyse data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
• Provide regular training and guidance to settlement officers and foster strong relationships with partners and stakeholders.
• Identify and mitigate potential risks in settlement workflows.

Required profile

• First degree in any discipline with at least Second‑Class honors; a relevant Master’s degree is an advantage.
• A recognized professional certification is a plus.
• Minimum of 6 years’ relevant experience, preferably in financial services marketing or settlement operations.
