Supermarket Manager

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Supermarket Manager to lead daily operations at our store in Port Harcourt. The role involves overseeing staff, managing inventory, and driving sales performance while ensuring excellent customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise, schedule, and coordinate supermarket staff to ensure effective performance.
• Monitor sales activities, analyse reports and implement strategies to meet targets.
• Manage inventory levels, conduct stock counts, investigate discrepancies and ensure proper product rotation.
• Oversee cash handling, POS transactions and ensure accurate financial procedures.
• Handle customer complaints and maintain high standards of service.
• Coordinate with suppliers on orders, deliveries, pricing and product availability.
• Control operating expenses, monitor hygiene, safety standards and prevent stock losses.
• Train, motivate and evaluate staff performance and ensure compliance with company policies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree, HND or OND in Business Administration, Marketing, Management, Accounting or related field.
• At least two years of experience in supermarket, retail or store management.
• Strong knowledge of retail operations, inventory management and merchandising.
• Proven ability to lead teams, communicate effectively and deliver excellent customer service.
• High level of integrity, attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for reporting and analysis.
• Experience with POS systems and basic accounting procedures.
• Familiarity with inventory management systems.
