Senior Resident Doctor – General Medical & Surgical Services

About the role

The African Medical Centre of Excellence in Abuja is seeking a Senior Resident Doctor to deliver comprehensive medical and surgical care across all age groups. The role combines direct patient management with leadership of clinical teams and participation in strategic planning.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive assessments, diagnosis, treatment and preventive care for acute and chronic conditions.
• Respond to emergencies, perform life‑saving procedures such as CPR and intubation, and coordinate urgent care.
• Conduct clinical audits, ensure compliance with regulations and maintain accurate patient records.
• Educate patients and families about conditions, treatment options and preventive measures.
• Lead multidisciplinary rounds, mentor junior doctors and contribute to residency training programs.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MBBS/MBChB) with a valid medical license and registration.
• Completion of a residency program and passing the Primary Fellowship Examination of the NPMCN within the last four years.
• Minimum 5‑7 years of clinical experience in primary care, including supervision or mentorship of staff.
• Strong English communication skills, problem‑solving ability and commitment to clinical governance.
• Professional attitude, integrity and alignment with AMCE’s vision.

Required skills

• Proficiency in performing CPR and advanced airway management (intubation).
• Interpretation of laboratory and imaging results to guide clinical decisions.
