Senior Nurse

About the role

The Senior Nurse will lead advanced nursing care within the General Medical & Surgical Services directorate of the African Medical Centre of Excellence in Abuja. The role combines direct patient care, quality assurance, and mentorship of junior nursing staff to ensure high‑quality outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans.
• Monitor vital signs, interpret clinical data, and adjust treatment plans in collaboration with physicians.
• Oversee medication administration and ensure adherence to protocols by junior staff.
• Champion infection prevention and control measures, leading audits and education programs.
• Coordinate patient flow, schedule follow‑ups, and facilitate referrals to specialists.
• Prepare and assist physicians during procedures, maintaining sterile technique and equipment readiness.
• Lead quality‑improvement initiatives and gather patient feedback to enhance service delivery.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and a valid nursing license.
• Minimum five years of clinical experience with leadership responsibilities.
• Extensive knowledge of nursing protocols, patient safety, pharmacology, and legal standards.
• Professional attitude, dedication to patient well‑being, and ability to remain calm under pressure.
