Project Manager – Higher Education

About the role

The Project Manager will lead the delivery and growth of the British Council's Higher Education portfolio in Nigeria, overseeing student mobility, alumni engagement, tertiary partnerships and client‑funded initiatives. You will ensure end‑to‑end project delivery, manage stakeholder relationships and uphold compliance, reporting and impact standards.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a broad range of project, financial, stakeholder and compliance activities to deliver education programmes on time and within budget.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with higher education institutions, delivery partners and suppliers, overseeing procurement, contracts and supplier performance.
• Support financial planning, forecasting and budget monitoring, ensuring adherence to British Council financial policies.
• Identify and mitigate project risks, oversee reporting from grant recipients and service providers, and ensure data quality and programme monitoring.
• Contribute to business development by assisting with proposal development, costing and pricing for externally funded projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (required).
• Minimum 2 years experience in project or programme management, covering the full project life‑cycle.
• Proven experience managing project finances, procurement processes and stakeholder relationships.
• Understanding of monitoring, evaluation and reporting requirements for education projects.
