Principal PACO (Process Automation Control & Optimization) Engineer

About the role

Provide PACO discipline engineering support and technical authority to the HA & HB‑Buko projects during design, construction, and commissioning phases. The projects aim to deliver 350‑450 MMscf/d of gas to NLNG Train‑7 from 2029+, plus 25‑30 kb/d of oil and condensate for export.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage multiple engineers and 3rd‑party contractors across design, fabrication, installation, and commissioning.
• Provide technical support to internal and external stakeholders, including asset teams, design contractors, JV partners, and regulators.
• Ensure design decisions comply with group standards, project management blueprints, engineering manuals, and HSE requirements.
• Deliver full benefits of PACO technologies aligned with current operation and maintenance philosophy.
• Drive HSE performance, maintaining a zero‑incident mindset on design and technical integrity.
• Provide technical assurance on design points and ensure compliance with control point sign‑offs.

Required profile

• Minimum bachelor’s degree in engineering.
• NSE and COREN membership.
• At least 14 years of PACO experience in the oil and gas industry.
• Proven leadership, coaching, negotiation, decision‑making and communication abilities.
• Experience managing MAC systems, especially Emerson DeltaV.

Required skills

• Plant automation and process control & safeguarding.
• System integration, including 3rd‑party packages.
• Pre‑commissioning and commissioning of PLC, DCS and SIS systems.
• Emerson DeltaV (MAC) expertise.
• Specification, design and integration of telecommunications systems.
