PET Radiographer – Clinical Imaging Specialist

About the role

The PET Radiographer is responsible for delivering high‑quality Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and PET/CT imaging services. This role combines advanced technical operation of imaging equipment with compassionate patient care, ensuring accurate diagnosis and safe radiation practices.

Key responsibilities

• Perform PET and PET/CT scans following established clinical protocols and operate, calibrate, and troubleshoot the imaging equipment.
• Administer radiopharmaceuticals safely, adhering to aseptic technique and radiation‑safety measures.
• Provide clear instructions and compassionate care to patients before, during, and after procedures, monitoring for adverse reactions or claustrophobia.
• Conduct daily quality control tests on PET/CT scanners and dose calibrators, participating in departmental QA programs.
• Apply ALARA principles, use personal dosimetry, and manage radioactive materials and waste according to regulations.
• Collaborate with cyclotron physicists, nuclear medicine physicians, radiologists, and maintain accurate image annotation and patient records in PACS.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Radiography, Medical Imaging, or a related field, with a valid practicing license.
• Minimum of 3 years post‑qualification experience in radiography, including hands‑on operation of PET/CT or nuclear medicine systems.
• Proven experience in safe handling and administration of radiopharmaceuticals and working within a multidisciplinary clinical environment.

Required skills

• Operation, calibration and basic troubleshooting of PET/CT scanners.
• Administration of radiopharmaceuticals following aseptic and radiation‑safety protocols.
• Conducting quality control tests on imaging equipment and dose calibrators.
• Use of PACS for image annotation and record keeping.
