About the role
The Nutrition Officer will lead the implementation of community‑based and facility‑based nutrition programmes, ensuring compliance with national and international standards. Working closely with health workers, partners and donors, the officer will supervise and mentor the nutrition team to deliver high‑quality services.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee CMAM and IYCF programmes at health facilities and in the community, ensuring strict adherence to protocols.
- Coordinate referral of SAM cases with medical complications to stabilization centres.
- Mentor health‑facility staff on OTP and TSFP services and support midwives with IYCF counselling.
- Train community health workers and volunteers in MUAC screening, CMAM procedures and use of IEC materials.
- Establish and maintain baby‑friendly spaces and mother support groups, facilitating regular IYCF and hygiene sessions.
- Develop weekly and monthly nutrition activity plans and monitor their implementation.
- Participate in nutrition sector assessments and provide technical recommendations.
- Identify causes of malnutrition in emergencies and design appropriate response strategies.
Required profile
- Proven experience managing nutrition programmes in humanitarian or development settings.
- Strong ability to supervise, coach and build capacity of nutrition staff and volunteers.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills with government, NGOs, donors and UN agencies.
- Commitment to delivering services that are technically sound, culturally appropriate and environmentally friendly.
