Marketing Director

About the role

Melos Consulting is seeking a Marketing Director to lead category growth across West Africa. The role will shape strategy, drive commercial performance and champion data‑driven marketing for its retail, fashion and FMCG portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Develop long‑term category growth strategies using consumer, market and competitive insights.
• Lead annual category planning, prioritize growth drivers and manage the innovation and renovation pipeline.
• Translate marketing strategies into revenue, profit and share growth; own annual operating plans and resource allocation.
• Partner with finance and sales to optimise pricing, mix and channel strategies; forecast performance against contracts.
• Build deep consumer insights, define brand positioning and portfolio architecture, and oversee integrated 360° campaigns across traditional, digital and experiential channels.
• Influence senior stakeholders across marketing, sales, finance, insights, supply chain and global teams; lead virtual matrix teams across geographies.
• Apply advanced analytics for growth modelling, competitive intelligence and market performance reviews; champion a data‑driven culture.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of progressive marketing leadership experience in FMCG.
• Proven track record in category strategy, brand building and commercial planning.
• Experience managing P&L and delivering growth in a multi‑brand environment.
• Ability to influence senior stakeholders without direct authority and lead cross‑cultural teams.
• Strong strategic thinking and decision‑making under ambiguity.
