Junior Lecturer – Maritime Studies

About the role

Sealearn Academy is looking for a motivated Junior Lecturer to join its Maritime Studies team. This entry‑level academic position is ideal for candidates with solid maritime experience who are eager to begin a teaching career.

Key responsibilities

• Assist senior faculty in developing curriculum and preparing course materials.
• Deliver lectures, tutorials and practical sessions on navigation, marine engineering, seamanship, cargo handling, environmental protection and maritime safety.
• Support the creation and grading of coursework, examinations and student assessments.
• Provide academic guidance and mentorship to students.
• Participate in departmental meetings, quality‑assurance processes and professional‑development activities.
• Engage in scholarly activities, research and pursue further academic qualifications.

Required profile

• Recognised professional certification (e.g., Master (F.G.) or Marine Engineer Officer Class I).
• Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Nautical Science, Marine Engineering or related field (master’s preferred or in progress).
• Minimum 5 years seagoing experience, including management‑level positions such as Chief Officer or 2nd Engineer.
• Certificate from an approved Train‑the‑Trainer or Train‑the‑Simulator course.
• Familiarity with international maritime regulations (STCW) and a willingness to continue professional development.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office and related software tools.
