Junior Business Analyst

About the role

We are seeking a Junior Business Analyst to join Gulf Associates on a permanent, fully‑remote basis. The role supports a high‑stakes commercial advisory project for a regional financial services provider operating in Nigeria, providing market intelligence and analysis to inform joint‑venture and entry‑point decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor counterparties’ activities and public filings for active client engagements.
• Build clear financial and operational models reflecting real‑world commercial scenarios.
• Conduct primary research by identifying and contacting relevant industry participants.
• Prepare concise briefs summarising risks of specific entry strategies for partners.
• Verify partner claims during negotiations using secondary data sources.
• Analyse interactions between state‑led investments and private‑sector outcomes.
• Support internal position papers that guide final investment decisions.
• Identify regulatory shifts that could affect proposed joint ventures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics or a related field (or final‑year student).
• Strong written communication without corporate jargon.
• Basic exposure to Excel for data layout and scenario mapping.
• Natural curiosity about how companies operate and generate profit.
• Familiarity with basic research methods such as public registries or commercial databases.
• High attention to detail and ability to spot contradictions in documentation.
• Comfort working independently in a remote setting while meeting strict deadlines.
• Eagerness to learn commercial logic used in sovereign and family‑led investment environments.
