Head of Senior School

About the role

Wellington College International Lagos is seeking an experienced and visionary Head of Senior School to lead the 11‑18 programme from January 2027. Reporting directly to the Master, the role combines strategic leadership with hands‑on involvement in teaching, pastoral care and school development.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement the senior school vision within the whole‑school development plan.
• Establish the 11‑18 curriculum, including the A‑Level programme.
• Coordinate effective delivery of teaching and pastoral care across the senior school.
• Lead the Senior School Senior Management Team (SMT) and ensure high standards of performance and discipline among staff.
• Oversee child protection and safeguarding policies, ensuring they are thorough and consistently applied.
• Design the academic calendar in consultation with the SLT, SMT and subject leaders.
• Teach a reduced number of lessons as required.
• Develop, implement and review all senior school policy documents and strategic plans.
• Manage parental communications and address disciplinary matters.
• Ensure smooth transition and integration between senior and primary schools.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in an international or boarding school setting.
• Strong strategic thinking with the ability to align senior school goals with the college’s overall vision.
• Excellent collaborative skills and a commitment to building meaningful relationships with staff, pupils and parents.
• Demonstrated ability to lead curriculum development and uphold safeguarding standards.
• Passion for fostering academic, personal and social excellence among pupils.
