About the role
The Government Relations Director will lead Renmoney’s engagement with regulators, policymakers and government agencies to support the bank’s strategic growth. This senior position will monitor regulatory developments, ensure compliance, and act as a strategic enabler for new product launches and geographic expansion.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and maintain relationships with ministries, regulatory bodies (e.g., CBN, NDIC, NIBSS, FCCPC, NITDA) and legislative entities.
- Represent the bank in meetings, public hearings and consultations on financial services policy.
- Track, interpret and communicate new laws, regulations and government initiatives affecting banking and fintech.
- Coordinate with Compliance and Legal teams to align business plans with regulatory expectations.
- Design and execute advocacy strategies, prepare position papers and participate in regulatory consultations.
- Provide executive leadership with regular updates on political, economic and regulatory trends.
- Lead crisis management and regulatory dispute response to minimise business disruption.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Law, Political Science, Public Policy, Economics or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- 10+ years of experience in government relations, regulatory affairs or public policy, preferably within banking or fintech.
- Proven track record of influencing policy outcomes and managing high‑level stakeholder relationships.
