Financial Controller – Microfinance Bank

About the role

The Financial Controller for the Microfinance Bank will lead financial management, reporting and control functions, ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal policies. This full‑time, on‑site position is based in Benin City and works closely with operations, risk and compliance teams to support sustainable portfolio growth.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with IFRS or local GAAP.
• Manage budgeting, forecasting and financial planning processes.
• Monitor cash flow, liquidity and general ledger postings.
• Strengthen internal controls, coordinate audits and support regulatory filings.
• Provide financial analysis and insights to senior management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field; professional certifications (ACA, ACCA, CFA) a plus.
• Prior experience as a financial controller or senior finance professional in a microfinance bank or similar institution.
• Strong knowledge of microfinance banking regulations and reporting requirements.

Required skills

• IFRS and local GAAP reporting.

• Internal controls, risk management and audit coordination.
• Regulatory compliance and micro‑finance banking regulations.
• Proficiency with financial software, core banking systems and advanced MS Excel for analysis and reconciliations.
