Finance Specialist - Inventory

About the role

The Finance Specialist – Inventory will monitor and manage all financial aspects of inventory across the supply chain, ensuring accurate valuation, cost control and compliance with accounting standards. The role works closely with operations, procurement and warehousing teams to optimise stock management and minimise financial risks.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure timely reconciliation between physical stock and financial systems.
• Monitor and analyse inventory movements, ageing and stock variances to identify risks and opportunities.
• Partner with supply chain and operations teams to review inventory levels, turnover and obsolescence.
• Prepare inventory reports and support monthly, quarterly and annual closing activities, including valuation and journal entries.
• Perform root‑cause analysis on stock adjustments, write‑offs and inventory losses.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls and audit requirements related to inventory.
• Support development and implementation of inventory management policies and procedures.
• Assist in physical inventory counts and cycle counts, including planning, execution and analysis.
• Contribute to working‑capital improvement initiatives by providing insights into inventory optimisation.
• Provide support during internal and external audits regarding inventory‑related queries and documentation.

Required profile

• BSc degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in finance, inventory control or supply‑chain finance within FMCG or manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of inventory accounting principles such as standard costing, FIFO and weighted‑average methods.
• Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) and strong Excel skills.
• Detail‑oriented with strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to collaborate cross‑functionally and communicate effectively with non‑financial teams.
