Data Engineer (Remote)

About the role

RocketDevs is looking for a talented Data Engineer to join its remote network. You will be matched to client projects where you own the design, build, and operation of real‑world data infrastructure that powers analytics, reporting, and AI‑enabled applications.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines processing high‑volume event streams.
• Build and optimise data warehouses and data lakes on cloud platforms.
• Integrate multi‑source data from relational and NoSQL stores.
• Implement data modelling, schema design, and governance best practices.
• Ensure reliability, monitoring, and performance of data systems.
• Collaborate with engineering and non‑technical stakeholders to deliver data solutions.

Required profile

• Strong proficiency in Python (or Scala/Java) for data processing.
• Solid SQL skills and experience with PostgreSQL or MySQL.
• Hands‑on experience designing production ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Familiarity with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, Cassandra or DynamoDB.
• Knowledge of a major data‑warehousing platform (BigQuery, Snowflake or Redshift).
• Experience with distributed processing tools like Apache Spark, Kafka or Flink.
• Comfort working on AWS, GCP or Azure cloud environments.
• Disciplined use of Git/GitHub, CI/CD pipelines and containerisation (Docker).
• Understanding of data modelling, schema design and data‑governance principles.
• Ability to share a production data system architecture diagram and explain its impact and scale.
