Compliance Officer (Microfinance Bank)

About the role

The Compliance Officer for the Microfinance Bank will work full‑time on‑site in Benin City. You will design, implement and monitor compliance frameworks that meet regulatory requirements and internal policies, safeguarding the bank’s integrity and reputation.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and monitor compliance frameworks aligned with microfinance regulations.
• Review and update compliance policies, procedures and internal controls.
• Conduct compliance risk assessments and monitor transactions for potential breaches.
• Prepare regulatory reports and coordinate audits and inspections.
• Liaise with regulators and external stakeholders as required.
• Train staff on compliance standards and advise management on emerging regulatory changes.
• Support continuous improvement of controls to protect the bank’s reputation.
• Maintain documentation and ensure timely filing of compliance records.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of microfinance banking regulations, compliance frameworks and risk management principles.
• Experience developing and implementing policies, procedures and internal controls in a financial services environment.
• Ability to conduct compliance reviews, audits and investigations and produce clear reports for management and regulators.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and attention‑to‑detail skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills for training staff and engaging regulators.
• High ethical standards, integrity and sound judgment in handling confidential information.
• Bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field; professional certifications are a plus.
• Prior experience in a microfinance bank or similar financial institution in a compliance, risk or audit role is highly desirable.
