Commodity Trader

About the role

We are looking for a Commodity Trader to source and purchase agricultural commodities, develop buyer relationships, and close sales deals while ensuring quality and profitability.

Key responsibilities

• Source and purchase commodities from farmers, aggregators, and suppliers at competitive prices.
• Identify and develop local and export buyers, negotiate terms, and close sales.
• Monitor market prices, demand trends, and seasonal changes to advise management.
• Ensure commodity quality meets buyer specifications through inspection, grading, and documentation.
• Coordinate logistics, warehousing, transportation, and port/shipping processes.
• Maintain accurate records of transactions, inventory, and payments.
• Travel to farms, markets, and client sites as required and meet sales and profit targets.

Required profile

• Prior experience trading raw and agricultural products (minimum 2 years).
• Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship‑building abilities.
• Good understanding of Nigerian commodity markets, pricing, and supply chains.
• Ability to work independently, deliver results under pressure, and travel as needed.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Proficiency in Google Workspace.
