Civil / Structural Engineer (Contract)

About the role

A contract position for a Civil / Structural Engineer based in Abuja and Lagos, Nigeria. The engineer performs structural analysis and design for real estate projects and works with the engineering team and other stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and design for various real estate projects.
• Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications and calculations in line with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with the engineering team and other stakeholders to develop cost-effective and sustainable structural solutions.
• Conduct site inspections and evaluations to assess structural integrity, identify risks and ensure compliance with safety standards and building codes.
• Support project teams through design, construction and commissioning phases.
• Take part in design reviews, value engineering and risk assessments.
• Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies and best practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related field; a Master's degree is an added advantage.
• 5+ years of experience in structural design and analysis, preferably in the real estate or construction industry.
• Strong knowledge of building codes, zoning regulations and construction standards.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects at once.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Required skills

• Structural engineering software such as ETABS, SAP2000 and SAFE.
• AutoCAD and Revit.
• Preferred: familiarity with green building principles, BIM workflows, and project management experience or certification (e.g. PMP, CAPM).
