About the role
The African Medical Centre of Excellence (AMCE) in Abuja is seeking a Biomedical Engineer to ensure the safe, effective, and efficient operation of all biomedical equipment. You will support patient care by maintaining reliability and safety of diagnostic, therapeutic, and life‑support devices.
Key responsibilities
- Perform routine preventive maintenance, calibration, and repair of biomedical equipment according to manufacturer specifications.
- Install, commission, and acceptance‑test new medical devices, coordinating with vendors for training and support.
- Conduct safety inspections, ensure compliance with Joint Commission and local regulations, and provide safety training to staff.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Professional certification or membership with a recognized biomedical engineering body.
- 3‑5 years of experience as a Biomedical Engineer in a healthcare setting.
Required skills
- Preventive maintenance and equipment calibration.
- Installation and commissioning of medical devices.
- Conducting safety inspections and ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Proficiency with computer‑based maintenance management systems (CMMS) and diagnostic software.
