Back End Developer

About the role

This is a full-time Back End Developer role based in Lagos State, Nigeria, with a hybrid work arrangement that allows for some work from home. The Back End Developer will design, build, and maintain server‑side applications and APIs that power Leadremit’s payment platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Write clean, efficient, and secure code for backend services.
• Integrate third‑party services and APIs.
• Optimize application performance and ensure high availability.
• Collaborate with front‑end developers, product managers, and other team members to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Participate in code reviews, debugging, and continuous improvement of the codebase and architecture.
• Implement best practices for security, data integrity, and compliance within the payments ecosystem.

Required profile

• Strong back‑end web development and software development experience, building scalable and secure server‑side applications.
• Solid programming and Object‑Oriented Programming (OOP) skills with proficiency in at least one modern backend language (e.g., Java, C#, Python, Node.js).
• Foundational front‑end development knowledge to integrate backend services with user interfaces.
• Experience with databases (SQL and/or NoSQL) and API design (RESTful or GraphQL).
• Familiarity with version control (Git), cloud platforms, containerization, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Prior experience in fintech or payment systems is an advantage.
