Assistant Technical Officer, Nurse/Midwife

About the role

The Assistant Technical Officer, Nurse/Midwife will deliver nursing and midwifery care to a highly vulnerable population in Damasak, Borno State. Working under the supervision of the Technical Officer, Health and Nutrition Services, you will ensure quality, continuity and safety of care in line with doctors' prescriptions and universal hygiene standards.

Key responsibilities

• Provide nursing and midwifery treatment, follow‑up and documentation according to medical prescriptions.
• Assist women throughout pregnancy, childbirth and post‑delivery, offering antenatal and postnatal advice.
• Conduct patient triage in waiting areas, wards or emergencies, identify priority cases and deliver first‑aid care.
• Maintain and promote universal hygiene precautions throughout all activities.
• Support patients with feeding, personal hygiene, mobility and overall comfort.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure coordinated, high‑quality care.

Required profile

• Qualified nurse or midwife with a valid registration.
• Ability to work in humanitarian or emergency settings.
• Strong understanding of universal hygiene standards and clinical protocols.
• Excellent communication skills to support women, families and vulnerable groups.
