Assistant Manager – Trade Development (Oil, Fats & Cereal Products)

About the role

The Assistant Manager, Trade Development will lead the Oil, Fats and Cereal Products category for Golden Penny Foods in Lagos. The role focuses on expanding market penetration, driving sales performance and strengthening partnerships with key distributors.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee multiple Key Distributors to ensure efficient trade development for the category.
• Drive sales volume and value targets through tailored market expansion strategies across assigned territories.
• Lead direct‑to‑retail redistribution initiatives, coordinating van sales and open market teams to improve category availability and visibility.
• Enforce Standard Operating Procedures for route planning and optimise use of sales automation tools.
• Expand territory coverage by establishing and optimising sub‑distributor networks, deepening penetration for category SKUs.
• Coach and mentor Sales Development Officers and field teams to build strong execution capabilities.
• Develop and execute Joint Business Plans with Key Distributors to grow assortment and market share.
• Analyse competitor activities and category trends, providing actionable insights and strategic recommendations.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 + years of sales experience in FMCG, preferably in redistribution sales.
• Mandatory experience in the Oil, Fats and Cereal Products category.
• Strong knowledge of FMCG redistribution and Route‑to‑Market strategies.
• Proven ability to manage and develop Key Distributor networks across territories.
• Demonstrated track record of driving sales growth and expanding market penetration.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing or a related field.
