Accountant

About the role

The Accountant will develop, review and update financial policies and procedures to align with the company's objectives and regulatory requirements. This role supports budgeting, forecasting, payroll, and statutory compliance while providing actionable financial insights for management.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate double‑entry accounting records and ensure timely posting of transactions within 48 hours.
• Prepare and review monthly financial reports, management accounts, cash‑flow statements and fixed‑asset registers.
• Reconcile sales, revenue, and inventory records across branches and investigate variances.
• Manage petty‑cash custody, approve disbursements, and monitor weekly budgets.
• Process payroll, calculate statutory deductions (PAYE, VAT, CIT, CGT) and coordinate remittances.
• Support internal and external audits by providing unrestricted access to financial information.
• Supervise and develop the Accounts and Administration Officer, ensuring compliance with policies.
• Develop and update SOPs for financial processes and business analysis.

Required profile

• First degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline.
• Full membership of ICAN or equivalent (ACCA, CIMA).
• 3–5 years progressive accounting experience, including financial reporting and payroll.
• Working knowledge of Nigeria Tax Act 2025, Pension Reform Act, NDPA 2023 and related regulations.
• Experience in a retail or multi‑branch environment is desirable.
