Accountant

About the role

The Accountant will manage the company’s financial records, ensure compliance with Nigerian tax regulations, and support strategic decision‑making through accurate reporting. This full‑time position is based in Lagos and reports to senior finance leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain complete and accurate financial records, prepare monthly reports, and process journal entries.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely collections and vendor payments.
• Perform weekly bank reconciliations, monitor cash flow, and keep the cashbook up‑to‑date.
• Ensure compliance with statutory obligations such as PAYE, VAT, withholding tax, and pension contributions.
• Monitor budgets, prepare variance reports, and support cost‑control initiatives.
• Implement and oversee internal controls, review payments, and flag suspicious transactions.
• Administer monthly payroll, calculate deductions, and distribute payslips.
• Maintain accounting records using approved software and support automation projects.
• Provide financial information for management meetings and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
• Professional accounting qualification or progress towards one (ACA, ACCA, ICAN, ANAN, CIMA) is desirable.
• Minimum of 2 years experience in a similar accounting role.
• Strong understanding of financial reporting and Nigerian tax regulations.
• Excellent accuracy, analytical ability and attention to detail.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
