Valve Maintenance, Calibration & Servicing Instructor

About the role

Dexterous Applied Training Institute (DATI) seeks a qualified instructor for a two‑month, on‑site contract in Port Harcourt. The instructor will lead classroom and hands‑on sessions on industrial valve technology, ensuring participants acquire practical skills for real‑world applications.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive classroom training covering valve types, components, manual vs. actuated operation, preventive and corrective maintenance, testing, calibration, documentation, control valves, automation, and troubleshooting.
• Demonstrate safe use of tools and equipment, supervise practical assignments on test benches and field equipment, and enforce safety best practices.
• Assess learner performance, provide constructive feedback, and maintain accurate training records.
• Collaborate with the training team to continuously improve course content and delivery.

Required profile

• Strong background in equipment maintenance and repair for industrial valves.
• Hands‑on experience with preventive maintenance planning, scheduling, and documentation.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot and service valve assemblies, actuators, control valves, and related instrumentation.
• Previous experience as a technical instructor or trainer, with the ability to simplify complex concepts.
• Solid understanding of industry safety standards (process safety, lockout/tagout, pressure systems safety).
• Relevant technical qualification (e.g., Mechanical Engineering, Instrumentation) – certifications are a plus.
