Tax Manager

About the role

PZ Cussons is seeking an experienced Tax Manager to oversee all tax compliance activities for its Nigerian entities and support tax matters in Kenya and Ghana. The role involves preparing, reviewing and filing various tax returns, managing correspondence with tax authorities, and providing analytical support for tax planning and budgeting.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly withholding tax (WHT) returns for all PZ entities and SBUs in Nigeria, verify rates, reconcile reports and process payments within a 7‑day deadline.
• Review and file monthly VAT returns for all entities, ensuring submission to the FIRS by the 21st of each month.
• Handle demand notices, queries and other correspondence from the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) and state boards, drafting initial responses and maintaining a tracking system.
• Apply for and obtain annual tax clearance certificates for seven entities.
• Support first‑level review of tax computations for PZ Kenya and PZ Ghana, assisting with audits, refund claims and other tax issues.
• Prepare trend analyses, presentation decks and forecasts for tax planning and budgeting.
• Verify WHT credit notes on B2B customer purchases.

Required profile

• B.Sc. in Accounting.
• Professional certification such as ICAN, ACCA or CITN.
• 4‑5 years of relevant tax experience, preferably in an FMCG or multinational environment.
• Strong knowledge of Nigerian tax laws (CIT, VAT, WHT, PAYE, Transfer Pricing) and familiarity with Kenyan and Ghanaian tax regimes.
• Good understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Word.
• Advanced skills in MS Excel.
• Experience using SAP accounting software for tax reporting, reconciliations and compliance monitoring.
