Health Officer (Polio)

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a Health Officer (Polio) to provide professional technical, operational and administrative assistance throughout the health programme cycle in Kano, Nigeria. The role supports planning, implementation and monitoring of health initiatives, with a focus on polio eradication and maternal‑child health.

Key responsibilities

• Support programme development and planning.
• Manage programme delivery, monitoring and results.
• Provide technical and operational support to health programme implementation.
• Build and maintain networks and partnerships.
• Drive innovation, knowledge management and capacity‑building activities.

Required profile

• University degree in public health, nutrition, pediatric health, global health, health policy, epidemiology or related field.
• Minimum two years of professional experience in public health planning, maternal and neonatal health, or health emergency preparedness.
• Fluency in English.

Required skills

• Health and immunisation programme management.
• Result‑based planning for immunisation strengthening and zero‑dose reduction.
• Planning and operationalising polio eradication programmes.
• Monitoring disease outbreaks and coordinating response plans.
• Partnership management.
