Embedded Systems Engineer – Hardware & Firmware

About the role

We are looking for an Embedded Systems Engineer to design, develop, and optimise embedded hardware and firmware for Meta‑IV’s products. You will take solutions from concept and prototyping through testing and production, working closely with cross‑functional teams.

Key responsibilities

• Develop embedded systems and firmware for platforms such as STM32, ARM, ESP32 and Atmel.
• Design and integrate PCBs, sensors, actuators, power systems and control circuits.
• Create and optimise stepper and servo motor control systems.
• Build, test, debug and validate hardware and firmware prototypes.
• Troubleshoot hardware, firmware and hardware‑software integration issues.
• Produce schematics and PCB layouts using Altium, KiCad, Eagle or equivalent tools.
• Collaborate with Mechanical, Software, Production and R&D teams on product development.
• Maintain technical documentation including schematics, firmware, BOMs and test reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics or a related field.
• 2‑3 years of hands‑on experience in embedded systems and electronics development.
• Strong proficiency in C/C++ and microcontroller programming.
• Practical experience with PCB design, motor control, sensors and actuators.
• Experience using electronics testing and debugging equipment.
• Familiarity with EMC/EMI, CE and electrical safety standards.
