Deputy General Manager – Packing Plant

About the role

The Deputy General Manager – Packing Plant will lead the efficient operation, maintenance and optimisation of Dangote Cement’s packing and dispatch systems. You will ensure timely, accurate and safe packaging and delivery of cement products while driving productivity, minimising losses and meeting customer demand.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily packing plant operations, including rotary and electronic packers and bulk loading systems.
• Monitor plant KPIs such as packing efficiency, downtime, throughput and losses.
• Coordinate with sales, logistics and distribution teams to optimise truck turnaround time and loading efficiency.
• Lead preventive and predictive maintenance programmes and drive root‑cause analysis of equipment failures.
• Control cement stock levels, packing losses, spillage and wastage; reconcile production, packing and dispatch volumes.
• Ensure strict adherence to health, safety and environmental standards, leading audits and training.
• Identify and implement process improvements, automation and digital monitoring to boost efficiency and reduce costs.
• Lead, motivate and develop packing plant and dispatch teams, managing shift planning and skill development.
• Prepare and manage OPEX budgets, track cost per tonne packed and dispatched.
• Collaborate with production, quality, maintenance, sales and external vendors; provide regular operational reports.

Required profile

• Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop packing plant and dispatch teams.
• Experience collaborating with production, quality, maintenance and sales functions.
• Capability to manage relationships with transporters, contractors and vendors.
• Track record of delivering regular operational performance reports to senior management.
