Country Director

About the role

The Country Director provides overall strategic, programmatic, operational and representational leadership for Ipas Nigeria. This senior role ensures the country programme delivers sustained impact, financial viability, regulatory compliance and remains relevant within the evolving national context.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design, implementation and monitoring of Ipas Nigeria’s strategic plan in alignment with global vision and mission.
• Oversee a multidisciplinary team, strengthening programmatic and operational capacity and fostering a high‑trust, high‑performance culture.
• Ensure robust project and award management systems, including budgeting, work planning and data‑driven reviews.
• Maintain full donor contractual compliance and adherence to Ipas network standards and policies.
• Drive business development and resource mobilisation to sustain and grow the country programme.
• Build and nurture partnerships with government, NGOs, donors and other stakeholders to advance sexual and reproductive health and rights.
• Uphold Ipas’s technical leadership, promote evidence‑based decision making and champion innovative solutions.

Required profile

• Extensive senior leadership experience in the sexual and reproductive health sector, preferably within Nigeria or a similar context.
• Proven track record of managing large, multi‑disciplinary teams and complex programmes.
• Demonstrated ability to secure funding, manage budgets and ensure donor compliance.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and partnership‑building skills.
• Commitment to equity, inclusion and the values of Ipas.
