Chinese Translator (Mandarin-English)

About the role

This position provides professional Mandarin Chinese‑English interpretation and translation support for meetings, site visits, training sessions and daily operations. The role bridges communication between Chinese‑speaking managers and local staff, ensuring accurate and culturally appropriate exchanges.

Key responsibilities

• Provide consecutive interpretation between Mandarin Chinese and English during various business interactions.
• Translate documents, emails, reports, contracts, instructions, notices and other business materials.
• Facilitate communication between Chinese‑speaking managers and local employees, including onboarding and training support.
• Accompany Chinese management to meetings, supplier visits, project sites and other official engagements.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive company, employee, client and business information.
• Prepare translated correspondence, presentations, reports and other business materials.
• Develop and maintain a professional glossary of technical and industry‑specific terminology.
• Assist with cultural explanations to prevent misunderstandings.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Chinese Language, Linguistics, Translation, International Relations, Business Administration or a related field.
• Fluency in Mandarin Chinese and English, both spoken and written.
• Minimum three years (36 months) of proven experience as a Chinese translator or interpreter.
• Strong listening, speaking, reading and writing abilities in both languages.
• Excellent attention to detail, accuracy and ability to maintain original meaning.
• Understanding of Chinese and Nigerian business/workplace culture.
• Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information professionally.
