Area Business Manager – Direct Sales (Kumbotso, Kano State)

About the role

The Area Business Manager will lead the direct‑distribution network for Sun King’s EasyBuy solar products in Kumbotso, Kano State. Reporting to the Regional Business Manager, you will be responsible for driving sales, ensuring timely collections, and expanding the footprint of the Energy Officer team.

Key responsibilities

• Recruit, train and retain a team of at least 40 Energy Officers using community influencers such as village heads, teachers and local leaders.
• Provide comprehensive training on sales, collections, product knowledge, inventory and logistics.
• Define clear daily tasks, routes and targets for Energy Officers and ensure they have the tools to address customer queries.
• Conduct weekly touch‑points and field visits with each Energy Officer, resolving issues and reporting to the Regional Business Manager.
• Accompany Energy Officers on their first five sales to guarantee proper sales and collection processes.
• Organise joint field activities, night activations, market visits and community events to boost group sales.
• Monitor performance metrics, collect feedback and continuously improve the direct‑sales operation.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing field sales teams, preferably in renewable‑energy or consumer‑goods sectors.
• Strong ability to motivate and develop large teams in rural environments.
• Excellent understanding of cash‑collection processes and inventory management.
• Effective communication skills for engaging community leaders and stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned area.
• High level of integrity, ethics and professionalism.
